Moments before the live performance.
Moments before the live performance.

Travelling around Japan you get to see some amazing things and get involved with unique experiences. One just such an experience came about thanks to my friend Anthony who has lived out here for 4 years teaching English. In the rural heart of Japan he has become a strong member of the community taking part in many local events. He has learnt traditional Japanese instruments such as the Shamisen, bamboo flutes (which he is also hand making!) and traditional Japanese drumming ‘Taiko’. As part of the build up to the small towns huge 45 minute firework festival display, the Taiko group were asked to perform a popular 3 song set in front of the massive crowd. I wanted to capture just a glimpse of the hundreds of hours of practice that goes into preparing for a performance as well as the live event itself, so I hope you enjoy watching the video as much as I enjoyed making it.
